Honey Roasted Mixed Nuts

by John B Sanfilippo Son

Mixed nuts with honey coating provide good protein and healthy fats, but added sugar and processing reduce the health benefits. Better than most processed snacks but not as good as plain nuts.

  • PEANUTS – beneficial · High in protein, healthy fats, and various vitamins and minerals. Good source of niacin and folate.
  • CASHEWS – beneficial · Rich in healthy monounsaturated fats, magnesium, and zinc. Support heart health and immune function.
  • ALMONDS – beneficial · Excellent source of vitamin E, magnesium, and fiber. Associated with improved cholesterol levels.
  • SUGAR – controversial · Added refined sugar increases calorie density and can contribute to blood sugar spikes when consumed regularly.
  • HAZELNUTS – beneficial · High in healthy fats, vitamin E, and folate. Support cardiovascular health and brain function.
  • PECANS – beneficial · Rich in antioxidants and healthy fats. May help reduce inflammation and support heart health.
  • HONEY – safe · Natural sweetener with trace amounts of antioxidants, but still adds sugar content to the product.
  • VEGETABLE OIL (PEANUT AND/OR SUNFLOWER SEED) – safe · Peanut and sunflower oils are relatively stable cooking oils without inflammatory omega-6 imbalance concerns.
  • SALT – safe · Enhances flavor and acts as natural preservative in small amounts used here.
  • POTATO STARCH – safe · Natural thickening agent derived from potatoes, helps coating adhere to nuts.
  • MALTODEXTRIN – controversial · Highly processed carbohydrate that can spike blood sugar and may negatively affect gut bacteria.
  • XANTHAN GUM (E415) – safe · Natural polysaccharide produced by fermentation, generally well-tolerated stabilizer.
